What Is The World’s Largest Automobile Manufacturer?

Britain is well-known for its car manufacturing industry, having produced some of the greatest models around, including Aston Martin, Bentley, Land Rover, and Vauxhall to name a few.

However, its production of automobiles cannot compete with Japan, which is home to the largest car manufacturer the world over, Toyota Motor Corporation

In fact, last year alone it sold 10.48 million vehicles, with a revenue of $266.6 billion (£219.96 billion) and a net profit of $17.59 billion.

According to Yahoo! Finance: “One of the reasons Toyota has had success with its vehicles is that the company has long been known for producing reliable, easy and inexpensive-to-fix products, which hasn’t changed over the years.”

In 2021, it even proved its popularity in the US, which is a hard market to crack. For the first time in history, it beat General Motors Company (GM) for the title of the Top Selling Car Company In the United States.

While GM sold 2.2 million vehicles that year, customers in the US bought 2.3 million cars, which resulted in GM losing the accolade for the first time since 1931.

However, GM pipped Toyota to the post the following year, selling 2.27 million units in the US in comparison with the Japanese brand’s 2.1 million.

Despite this, Toyota is still leading the way in the automotive industry, and recently presented a new electric vehicle (EV) at the Japan Mobility Show, the Land Cruiser Se. This seven-seater car has been designed to provide a comfortable experience on the road, as well as having responsive handling for off-road driving.

Although Toyota drives the automotive industry in Japan, the country only scored third place in the world’s top car producers. In 2022, it manufactured 6,566,356 vehicles, whereas China made 23,836,083 the same year, making it the biggest supplier in the sector.
