The Porsche 917 was an iconic vehicle that was unparalleled at the time in both speed and power. It dominated the early 1970s and made history at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, however, the sheer force of this vehicle pushed the safety regulations of the event.

The Lotus 25, designed by Colin Chapman, was a highlight of the 1962 Formula One season. Its innovative design was lightweight, speedy and agile.

There are many other vehicles which have had controversy surrounding them throughout the history of motorsport, however, this seems t have diminished slightly in recent years as modern cars are far more equal in terms of performance and build.
