Tesla’s Elon Musk Teases Next-Generation Electric Vehicle

Tesla has revealed plans for its next-generation electric vehicle (EV), which will be even more energy-efficient and cheaper to buy.

Earlier this week, the car manufacturer kept exact details of the motor under wraps, instead focusing on the change of production technique.

It hopes the new car will be produced as part of its future ‘space-time efficiency’ strategy. This will see all the parts of the car being built separately before they are connected together in one unit.

A spokesperson for Tesla says this will dramatically increase the efficiency of building, stating: “We’ll be doing more work on the car more of the time.”

This will boost overall production of EVs, with Tesla boss Elon Musk hoping to reduce cost by 50 per cent and manufacturing footprint by 40 per cent with the next generation manufacturing.

Using this technique, Tesla believes it will be able to produce around 20 million EVs per year, which will also reduce purchasing costs for customers.

In addition to this, Tesla’s Powertrain boss Colin Campbell noted that the new vehicle will be more energy-efficient than previous models. Using a permanent magnet motor, it will not require any rare earth materials at all.

According to Musk, Tesla is “heading rapidly toward an electric, autonomous future”.

Electric cars are growing in popularity as people become more conscious about climate change. RAC estimates there are 712,000 zero-emission Battery Electric Vehicles in the UK and 400,000 hybrids.

Although the manufacturing of the next-generation Tesla cars was kept secret, you can be certain high-quality precision engineering will be used in the making of them.
